Secrets To Selecting Your Perfect Puppy

You're ready to start choosing your puppy from our summer litter, but chances are you have some questions about personality and how to make the best decision for your forever family dog. I'm here to help.

I'll be introducing our litter as I share tips. I let the kids pick the litter theme and names. Here are our Disney Pups!

This is Woody (blue boy). His coat is quite light and he's of average size for a male.

Tip on size: Being only 3 weeks right now, a puppy's size don't necessarily indicate if they will be larger or smaller as an adult. When we got Papa Tucker, he was significantly smaller that Mama Winnie. At adult size, Tucker is a barrel chested lion whereas Winnie is sleak and petite in comparision.

Meet Buzz (light green boy.) I mean, if you have Woody, you need Buzz, right? And you know who's coming next when we get to the girls... (yes, Jessie!) Buzz is the slightest shade darker than Woody and similar size.

Will he ever grow up? Who knows! Here's our precious Peter Pan. (I just had a snugglefest with him and am riding a puppy high, woooo!) Peter's coat is a lovely light tone and he's (you guessed it) of average size, like his brothers.

Tip on personality: It's quite amazing what occurs when a puppy has it's environment and family changed. We've seen puppies that were balls of energy completely chill out once their litter mates went home and it was just them with Winnie+Tucker. We've also seen the quiet ones get their voices when they got older, and the loud ones quiet down. Is this helpful? Well, it's all to say that many factors contribute to if your dog is energetic or relaxed. Some is who they are from the get go, some is environment.

Short story: When we got Tucker, he was calm and quiet and rather shy. Winnie arrived a day later. As soon as she hopped out of the breeder's car she was running around the yard like she owned the place and Tucker was right at her shoulder the whole time. Winnie is the outgoing one, Tucker continues to be shy at first. But overall, they continue to exhibit the classic traits of the breed: relaxed and rarely bothered by anything, adoring of their people, snugglebuggles, companionable and all-around enjoyable dogs. Perfect for our family.

So to wrap up thoughts on personality, OUR energy as owners contributes so much to the energy our dogs put out. They respond to us. So if you'd like a relaxed, chill puppy, now is the perfect time to see where you'd like to find that warm, cozy place of chillax as a human being so you can help your pup and yourself enjoy life together. A high anxiety person will create a high anxiety dog.

Here's TIGGER! He's the darkest of our litter and the smallest, but growing fabulously right on schedule. When I say smallest, it's a slight difference from his littermates.

Now, let me share our girls with you!

Meet Miss Belle! She's a true beauty. A light coat and average size. Actaully, all the girls are about the same size, so I won't keep mentioning that in their descriptions.

Sweet Elsa. She's just a tinge darker, but still such a light coat.

Here's Jessie! She was snuggling our daughter, Truly, like a champ while taking photos -it was too cute! I have to share a couple more of Jessie...

Aaaawwwwwhhhh!

Meet Miss Minnie Mouse. She just may be our family favorite. Born with an incomplete front left paw, she has just charmed our hearts with her unique look and adorableness. We're monitoring her leg's growth, but she's getting around like her siblings and is growing overall wonderfully.

I can't help but include a few more of this sweet girl...

(My mama heart just melts.)

Miss Rapunzel. She's our darkest girl, but, as you can see, her coat is still on the lighter side for goldens.

This is a big reason why we keep having puppies -all the loves, all the loves!
